About
Meet Mikey "The Death Doula" Marin
At Healing Hearts House LLC, we believe every person deserves to experience life’s final chapter with dignity, compassion, and peace.
I’m Mikey Marin, a Certified End-of-Life Care Specialist, Death Doula, Advanced Reiki Practitioner, and counselor with dual degrees in Psychology and Interpersonal Relationship Management. My mission is simple: to walk beside individuals and families during some of life’s most difficult moments, helping replace fear with understanding, uncertainty with preparation, and isolation with compassionate support.
End-of-life care is deeply personal. Every journey is unique, and every individual deserves to have their wishes heard, respected, and honored.
Why I Chose This Calling
Many people have heard of a birth doula or midwife, someone who supports families as new life enters the world.
An End-of-Life Death Doula serves a similar purpose during life’s final transition.
When life becomes dark and uncertain, there are generally two kinds of people. Some instinctively step away from difficult situations. Others feel called to step toward them with compassion, presence, and courage.
I have always been called to be the person who steps toward those moments.
Death is something none of us can avoid, yet it is often surrounded by fear, uncertainty, and conversations many families don’t know how to begin. My goal is not simply to help people prepare for death. My goal is to help people continue living with intention, dignity, and peace while ensuring their final wishes are understood and honored.
It is an incredible privilege to be invited into these sacred moments, and I consider it one of the greatest honors of my life.

What Does a Death Doula Do?
A Death Doula provides non-medical emotional, educational, spiritual, and practical support for individuals and families before, during, and after the dying process.
Our role complements physicians, hospice teams, palliative care providers, and caregivers by focusing on the emotional and human aspects of end-of-life care.
Support may include:
- Education about the natural dying process
- End-of-life planning
- Advance Care Directives
- Legacy Projects
- Family guidance and emotional support
- Bedside companionship
- Active vigil support
- Advocacy during medical conversations
- Coordination with hospice and palliative care
- Respite care for caregivers
- Funeral and burial education
- Traditional and green burial planning
Every family’s needs are different, which is why every care plan is personalized.
Helping Families Replace Fear with Understanding
One of the greatest sources of anxiety surrounding death is simply not knowing what to expect.
Healing Hearts House provides compassionate education about the physical, emotional, and spiritual changes that naturally occur near the end of life. By understanding what is happening, individuals and families are often able to approach the journey with greater confidence and less fear.
Together, we explore personal wishes, answer difficult questions, and create thoughtful plans that reduce uncertainty while easing the emotional burden on loved ones.
Knowledge cannot remove grief, but it can replace fear with preparation and provide comfort during an otherwise overwhelming time.
A Unique Combination of Care
Healing Hearts House offers a multidisciplinary approach that blends several areas of expertise into one compassionate practice.
My background includes:
- Dual degrees in Psychology and Interpersonal Relationship Management
- Certified End-of-Life Care Specialist
- Certified Death Doula
- Advanced Reiki Practitioner
- Mindfulness-based support
- Patient and family advocacy
Rather than focusing on only one aspect of care, I strive to understand each person’s emotional, spiritual, practical, and personal needs so every family receives support tailored specifically to their situation.
Standing Beside You as Your Advocate
Navigating today’s healthcare system can feel overwhelming.
Hospitals, specialists, hospice providers, palliative care teams, and family members often have different perspectives, timelines, and priorities.
One of my most important roles is serving as an advocate.
I help individuals and families ask difficult questions, understand available options, communicate their wishes clearly, and ensure their voices remain at the center of every decision.
Whether preparing Advance Care Directives, discussing treatment options, coordinating with hospice, or helping families communicate openly, my commitment is always the same: to help ensure your wishes are understood and respected.

Why Families Choose Healing Hearts House
Families choose Healing Hearts House because they are looking for more than information.
They are looking for someone who will sit with them through uncertainty.
Someone who listens before speaking.
Someone who understands that compassion is just as important as clinical knowledge.
Healing Hearts House combines education, advocacy, mindfulness, Reiki, and end-of-life guidance to provide personalized support that honors every individual’s values, beliefs, and wishes.
Whether you’re planning ahead, supporting someone with a chronic or terminal illness, caring for a loved one through their final days, or simply looking for holistic wellness through Reiki, you don’t have to walk the journey alone.
What is a death Doula or midwife and what do they do?

What is reiki and why is it used?
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing, a type of Natural and Holistic medicine. - It is used to reduce stress, anxiety, lower cortisol and blood pressure.
- It is used to reduce chronic pain and inflammation.
- It is used on health individuals looking to improve their quality of life and learn emotional integration and healing.
